Our Busy Day

Well, no sooner had I read over my post yesterday morning about how much I loved the Finn, did she do something that made me worry sick.

Guess where this picture was taken?  She looks pretty happy and normal, right?

Well, we are at the emergency vet.  That's right.  Apparently, my normal vet couldn't squeeze us in yesterday (note to self, find new vet) and we had to run to the emergency room for my little girl!  She wasn't sitting, and favored one hind leg over the other and her tail wasn't raised at all.  She had been moping around all morning too, just not acting like herself.

So, the vet performed a little rear cleansing, we discovered she's backed up with....wood chips!  Oh Finn.  And bad supervision by the peeps in this house.  We get a big F for bad backyard supervision.

And, after a little stretching, we're hoping that she's just sprained her leg.  :(

So, Finn's suped up on drugs, eating some pumpkin and resting with Momma for the day.  I realized how much I loved my little girl.  Hope she's feeling better soon.

  2. Oh Finn what have you been up to? Our peeps worry so much about what we eat and no wonder - a few weeks back I grabbed and swallowed a whole raw chicken wing and frightened my peeps so much:-( Luckily it was OK but there were many worrying days. Hope you are feeling much better soon and tell your Mom not to beat herself up about it - we K9s would need watching 24/7 to stop us doing all the things we shouldn't. Paws crossed everything is well again soon - love from Magic xx

  4. Oh noes. Poor Finn. Her eyes are still alert and bright so we're sure with the meds and extra loving from Momma, she'll be back to her usual self in no time.
And stay clear of the wood chips when you're out in the yard next time, Finn!

    1. hey Finn,

OUCH!! Wood?! Dude - of all the things to eat. Yikes! I once had an issue by eating cotton balls. They clogged me and one got stuck half-way out. My human had to pull on the end sticking out to get it out of me. BOL!!! She survived (but did NOT appreciate it), but I let out a huge WOOF when it was pulled out. It hurt! So, I hope the wood chips have softened and don't hurt passing through.

Be careful what you eat, because it does eventually have to come out, one way or the other. Good luck, and sorry to hear of your misadventure. Hope you heal nicely and feel better soon. And hope your leg gets better.

  25. Duncan is a wood chip junkie. He just can't get enough of them. I did some research and use a bee pollen powder they give horses to stop them from eating bark. It seemed to work. I don't use it anymore, though, because I think we finally broke that nasty habit. You might want to look into it.

In the meantime, poor Finn and poor YOU! I know the stress of those trips to the emergency room. I'm just happy it was something minor. WHEW!

And don't be too hard o yourself. You didn't let this happen. You can't be there every second of the day, as much as you'd like to try. Even if you were they'd find a way to sneak something.

You're good for Finn. She loves you and all is well in the universe. I promise.
