Doggie Social

Today we took Finn to the Doggie Social sponsored by Bideawee.  I didn't really know what to expect  -  and when we pulled up, it didn't look too happening yet, so we took it easy and walked around...

Then we came across an agility demo by All Fur Fun Agility and we decided to go for it.  Honestly, I don't know who had more fun, me or Finn!  First we conquered the little hill...

Then we conquered the triangle...

Through the tire...

Through the tunnel

She did a great job - I'm thinking about looking into some classes, because she definitely had an awesome time!

Then we caught a glimpse of this on the way home - - skydiving!  A little too close to the highway, eh?

And as an aside, a big CONGRATULATIONS to my man, Derek Jeter, on his 3000th hit this afternoon.  We came home, made some lunch, turned on the game, and found out we had missed the hit by five minutes!  Oh well...

In Finn and Other Unrelated News

Well, you all know that Grandma made a special appearance the other day...well, today is her birthday and to celebrate, I invited some of her friends and family to join us for high tea yesterday.  We had a really nice time!

This also meant that we had to leave Finn home for a nice chunk of the day, and lately I feel that she has been acting out a little bit when we leave her alone, so we have been practicing a new routine for when we do leave her - a special toy gets left that we pick up the instant we get home.  I had been practicing it for shorter amounts of time, and this was the first time we did for a long amount of time, and everything seemed ok when we got back, so way to go girl!  (I'll keep you posted on the progress of this trick, because if it does continue to work, I will be so thrilled!)

Today I took her to get groomed.  Not my mother, Finn of course!  I can't tell if she's happy to be clean, happy to be back home, or just panting from the car ride, but I have to say that I am SO HAPPY with the place we went to.  Really great service and super nice people.  We're off to a great start of the weekend!

Look Who Came for a Visit!

Grandma!!

She's not a fan of the canine group, but she made an exception today for
her grand-dog.  She even brought us a rawhide bone treat.
Nice work momma!
We love you very much!!

~Happy Fourth of July~

About ten people told us if Finn didn't have a problem with thunder, she wouldn't have a problem with fireworks.  The country club that sits next to where I work has fireworks every year, and we decided we would join some other folks up on the field and view them.

So head up to work Saturday night.  I think Finn was confused as to why we were pulling in up there after dinner, but she rolled with it.  We were told the show started at 8:30.  It started at 9:15!  We had plenty of time to walk around the field and watch the sun set.  We took Finn over to a hose and splashed her down - it's getting hot in NY!

And then the show began!

Finn did pretty good.  At first she wanted to run back to the hose area, and once she got there, she laid down and looked up and watched!  I didn't catch a shot of that - Dad took her over there so I could stay and watch the show, but this is her happy face before we were about to leave.  Way to go Finn!

Have a safe and happy fourth of July!

Pooch Pass

Earlier this week, we got our Pooch Pass - the town has a great dog park and my
neighbor clued me in to it.  So, we had to go check out - and we were really
impressed!  Little doggies on one side (behind the fence just beyond the
pool here); big doggies on the other.  We were the only ones
there when we arrived, but not for long....

Our new friend Chloe

Finn doesn't want to she her pool...

Hanging out in the shade - just beyond this area here is a training course!

Beach area for the peeps and the park continues through those woods there.

Chaos at the watering hole...this is where most of the action
was today since it's hitting 90.

What a great time - and it was the first real chance for Finn to socialize with more than one dog at a time, and to see what she'd do if we let her off the leash.  "Beach Day" is in two weeks, and we can't wait to see what that's all about!

Flush Puppies - Product Review

Well, I was tickled pink when I found out we actually won something on a blog give-away!  As reported earlier in the week, Finn won biodegradable Flush Puppies - little baggies you can flush down the toilet after she's finished doing her business.

We've been using them this week.  I do feel like I am doing something good for mankind and Mother Earth by using them; they are a great alternative to what I was using (plastic bags - don't judge!) but I have to say to the Flush Puppy people, if you are out there in the blog universe - -

I have a golden retriever.  She eats a lot.  She poops a lot at once.  The baggies are a little too small for me to open my hand big enough to pick up her business.  I checked out the packaging - is it meant for smaller dogs?  There wasn't a size indication on the packaging, but maybe there should be different size baggies for different sized dogs.  We're just saying...

As an aside, Finn's been to work with me every day this week and there has been no munching on my books!  Give Finn a round of applause!!  And have a great holiday weekend folks!
