These are neat little architectural elements I photographed over a lunch hour.
I'm actually quite impressed that I was able to focus on the elements and not have anyone walk in front of my photos!
Some of the captions are links to the buildings themselves if you'd like some more info...

I fell down the steps after taking this picture.

I'm actually quite proud of myself because some folks turned to see what I was photographing from time to time. I would like to think for a brief moment they were able to appreciate something pretty in the middle of the hustle and bustle of their day. I stopped to read a plaque about the financial district put up by the city and a man in a suit stopped behind me and read it too. Not too busy to learn something!
How enjoyable! Mom luvs looking at cool architectural elements too. Me, I like adding an aged hue to them (i.e. pee) ;) Great captures!

PeeS: Mom chuckled when she read about your tumble down the steps. Glad you got the shot first BOL! Also glad you didn't get hurt :)
You have a good eye for detail and they are nice photos and very interesting. Do be careful when taking your photos...no more falling down steps!
ReplyDeleteWe love art deoo so great pix. Have a great Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
I do a lot of condition assessments on buildings for my job, and I'm always amazed at the little extras that get added to a building. ...and yes, I stop to read the little plaques too!
ReplyDeleteSam
Oppsy! Thank goodness you weren't hurt in the tumble. That was quite a bit of walking to get all those pictures in one lunch hour?
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. My dad takes photos of things like this too, so I'm going to make sure I show this post to him. Both of my parents love interesting architectural features, especially those on older buildings. (Sorry you fell but glad you are okay.)
ReplyDeleteyour pal,
Garth
My mum worked in NYC for almost 20 years -- some of it in the Wall Street area where you took the pics. She had almost leaky eyes as she looked at them. She LUVS living in Tucson, AZ ('cos of the weather) but sometimes misses the hustle and bustle of New York. Please ask your mum to keep taking and posting more pics like these.
ReplyDeleteCody from Tucson
Our mom worked right down there at Chambers Street last year. Now she will be on the village at Houston street. Does it take your mom long to get to her job in NYC? Our mom's commute is only about 35 minutes which is why we moved jersey city

How beautiful! You have a great eye!
ReplyDeleteI especially liked 60 Williams street, but they're all really neat! How nifty is it, that the fact you were looking got other people to stop and look?
ReplyDeleteNice pics, and very observant of you too! You is a urban kind of dog, how fun that must be! I bet there is eleventy thousand smells literally everywhere.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Reuben
Hello dear Finn!!!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the interesting photo tour! Sorry about that fall but hopefully the only thing you bruised was your ego. :-)
ReplyDeleteWOW, very Art Deco. Not many sights like that on the beach :-) Thank you... great to see them :-)

Great spotting. We usually are in such a hurry we don't notice those things around us.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
I love your pictures! I wonder how many people walk past them every day and never notice the lovely detail in the architecture!

Finn your mom has a very good eye for beauty, which of course we already knew, since she picked you out of the litter.
ReplyDeleteHugs Madi...mom said ouch at the falling down the steps part.
Your BFFF
Love those details - sometimes people just need to take the time to look around them at the beautiful artistry on the buildings they walk past every day. Hope you are OK after your fall - woofs and licks from Magic xx
ReplyDeleteLoved the photos. Sorry you fell down.
ReplyDeleteVery cool pictures, you are so lucky you get to live in NYC!
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate your architectural photos of downtown!
ReplyDeleteSo much handiwork went into creating this lost art of years gone by.
New York has such amazing architectural elements, esp. of course on the old buildings. I grew up next to the Cathedral of St John the Divine; that in itself you could explore for days. And a building near there is decorated with gargoyles--I used to love those!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! You know, I realized that I tend to go through life without stopping to examine the fine details, which means I miss out on so much. I've been trying to get better, but I still need to work on it. Seeing these pix is a good reminder of that, so thank you!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! I love looking for the architectural details in our city as well. Such details that are hard to find today. Our state capitol building (Albany NY) has gorgeous marble animal and people carvings throughout. So many people might just pass them by.
ReplyDeleteWOWZERS! AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteVery nice!

What terrific pictures! How great that you get to see these sights everyday. Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pix! I used to work on Williams. I always want to take pix of pretty city things but am afraid people will stare at me! :-)
