These are neat little architectural elements I photographed over a lunch hour.
I'm actually quite impressed that I was able to focus on the elements and not have anyone walk in front of my photos!

I'm actually quite proud of myself because some folks turned to see what I was photographing from time to time. I would like to think for a brief moment they were able to appreciate something pretty in the middle of the hustle and bustle of their day. I stopped to read a plaque about the financial district put up by the city and a man in a suit stopped behind me and read it too. Not too busy to learn something!
How enjoyable! Mom luvs looking at cool architectural elements too. Me, I like adding an aged hue to them (i.e. pee) ;) Great captures!

You have a good eye for detail and they are nice photos and very interesting. Do be careful when taking your photos...no more falling down steps!

I do a lot of condition assessments on buildings for my job, and I'm always amazed at the little extras that get added to a building. ...and yes, I stop to read the little plaques too!

ReplyDeleteVery interesting. My dad takes photos of things like this too, so I'm going to make sure I show this post to him. Both of my parents love interesting architectural features, especially those on older buildings. (Sorry you fell but glad you are okay.)

My mum worked in NYC for almost 20 years -- some of it in the Wall Street area where you took the pics. She had almost leaky eyes as she looked at them. She LUVS living in Tucson, AZ ('cos of the weather) but sometimes misses the hustle and bustle of New York. Please ask your mum to keep taking and posting more pics like these.

Our mom worked right down there at Chambers Street last year. Now she will be on the village at Houston street. Does it take your mom long to get to her job in NYC? Our mom's commute is only about 35 minutes which is why we moved jersey city

New York has such amazing architectural elements, esp. of course on the old buildings. I grew up next to the Cathedral of St John the Divine; that in itself you could explore for days. And a building near there is decorated with gargoyles--I used to love those!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! You know, I realized that I tend to go through life without stopping to examine the fine details, which means I miss out on so much. I've been trying to get better, but I still need to work on it. Seeing these pix is a good reminder of that, so thank you!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! I love looking for the architectural details in our city as well. Such details that are hard to find today. Our state capitol building (Albany NY) has gorgeous marble animal and people carvings throughout. So many people might just pass them by.
