First, Finn LOVES, and I mean ABSOLUTELY, ABOVE ALL THINGS, LOVES to play fetch. This is evidenced here, here, and here.
Secondly, Finn does know the command "drop." Apparently with everything except a ball. A squeaky, drive everyone in the house crazy, tennis ball.
So, here we go on why Momma thinks Finn is just a bad sport.
Even though Finn loves to play fetch, Finn will not drop the ball, which she has to so Momma can throw it again. I mean look at the look of death Finn is shooting me, the Momma, because I want to only take the ball so I can throw it again.
Yep, she makes me pull it from her mouth.
And then, even though she will bring the ball to me, sometimes she makes me chase her around the house before she even lets me get near her to pull it out of her mouth.
Yep, that's over a full minute of Momma chasing Finn around tables, stairs, the crate, etc. And the only reason why it ended is because Momma just stopped.
So, there you have it. Finn is just a bad sport. At playing her own game none-the-less!!
Good luck to everybody!
BOL! That is so funny being a bad sport at her own game! Good luck with your "Bad Sport" entry!
ReplyDeleteBOL, Finn. We think that is a pawesome entry! You sure know how to have fun!:)

You are a great bad sport Finn, I do that too - but you have far more staying power than me!
ReplyDeleteTail Wuggles, Rubie
BOL!
ReplyDeleteOh my, not much of a sporty retrieving dog. You remind me of my large and now a retrieving self before momma introduced hot dogs into that game known as fetch. Of course now sometimes I kind of drop the ball halfway to her in my eagerness to get my mouth open in time to receive my treat. Hehehe.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
Woof!
ReplyDeleteYou made Keeper laugh and she needed to do that. Thanks!
Woof! Woof! Golden laughs!!! Good luck on your entry. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteHaha been there done that. Silly retriever. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck, but Finn a bad sport? Oh no.
the brown dawgs
Oh Finn, you have such a good time making that Mom chase you around the house. We think you make the perfect bad sport even though you are having such a good time. We wish you tons of good luck. Take care. Loved the videos.
ReplyDeleteLooks like classic bad sportsmanship, Finn. Good luck in MM
ReplyDeleteTucker and Daisy
P.S. We love that your dishes are in the dining room with the human table.
Looks like Finn has mastered that game quite well. Maybe you already found the answer to getting her to drop it- just ignore her, and when she drops it praise her highly. Of course, a really tasty treat might help too:)
ReplyDeleteGreat entry - good luck, Finn.
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
My owners were going to oput a video of me on my blog, but the video took too long to upload, then blogspot stopped working. I act like that, too. Only I don`t know the command drop-it.
ReplyDeleteHi Finn!! Great to see you and know that you are still up to your Retrieve mischief! Our Momster said the dogs who do it all perfectly aren't half as much fun as the ones who 'pretend' they can't do it - we just don't want to do we hee hee!1 ex and Lou xxx
ReplyDeleteGood luck Finn!
ReplyDeleteDachshund Nola
BOL - that is tooo funny, Finn! Good luck!

Finn, you ARE a bad sport. Good luck in Mango Minister!
ReplyDeleteAhhh! We think Finn has her own game (betcha can't get it) going there. Hugs and nose kisses
ReplyDeleteOh Finn Sweetie, you make me laugh so loud! Tell your mom that you are just doing her a favor by making sure she gets her exercise. You look so much like my granddog Goldie that you two could be clones of each other. Blessings Finn!
ReplyDeleteShiver is the same way! He LOVE, LOVE, LOVES his tennis balls.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first throw them for him, he'll chase them. But the longer we play, the less likely he is to drop the ball and I have to chase him to get it and pull it of his mouth. I kind of wonder if it's because he loves his balls so much that he doesn't want me to touch them.
Thats how Norbert plays fetch too!
ReplyDeleteYikes! Mommy won't tolerate that behavior from me. First, we can't play fetch in the house. We play outside. And if I don't drop the ball where she wants, she just stands there and ignores me. And she would never chase me. That is another game that we just don't play.
ReplyDeleteBut it looks like you and Finn are having a good time. She is a happy girl.
Doggy Kisses,
Tanner
Finn would love my Puffy puffin, but I don't let him go either :-)

Nice to meet you, Finn. Looks to us like you are doing an excellent job of training the Momma. She appears to have mastered 'chase' skills and shows promise in 'tug the ball' activities. And sometimes a dog just wants to chew and make something squeak. So we'd say, Finn, 3 - Momma, 0. That may make you a bad sport from the 2-leggers point of view, but it makes you a very promising momma trainer to us. Don't forget to reward her appropriately and praise her progress with slurpy kisses. Best of luck in the competition.
ReplyDeleteJed & Abby
Harley loves how you play Fetch! She plays the same way. Once in a while she will spit the ball out or throw it at us, but most of the time she runs around with the balls in her mouth (once she had 3, we don't know how she did that :-( You are doing a great job, well, according to the Sibes anyway! Good luck in the Mango Minster contest! We think you'll do just great!
ReplyDeleteBOL! Great post! Best of luck with Mango Minster :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go Finn. Good luck!

With Finn's affinity for balls, I am sure you particularly appreciated the entry of mine you commented on the other day.
ReplyDeleteFinn, I only gives Mommy the ball if she gives me a TREAT! ~Fenris
ReplyDeleteGood luck in the bad sport category Finn, but we thinks you are way to sweet to be a bad sport. ~The Cats
LOL Finn we hope you win
ReplyDeleteHa ha. Miss Finn is a ball hog!! Very funny, and we guess, a bad sport. Hey, she gave the ball back what contest could she enter?! Good luck in MM2012.

Oh, that is just playing "keep-away"!! I do it all of the time! Especially if there is a "skweek" sound involved! No worries...it is all normal! At least for me! Now, the two leggers will claim this is all in bad sport...so I guess you have a winner!
ReplyDelete(Sorry this is late - are the results already in?) My secretary just isn't what she should be...
Woof!

Just you make sure that you keep what is yours Finn
