Our Busy Day

Well, no sooner had I read over my post yesterday morning about how much I loved the Finn, did she do something that made me worry sick.

Guess where this picture was taken?  She looks pretty happy and normal, right?

Well, we are at the emergency vet.  That's right.  Apparently, my normal vet couldn't squeeze us in yesterday (note to self, find new vet) and we had to run to the emergency room for my little girl!  She wasn't sitting, and favored one hind leg over the other and her tail wasn't raised at all.  She had been moping around all morning too, just not acting like herself.

So, the vet performed a little rear cleansing, we discovered she's backed up with....wood chips!  Oh Finn.  And bad supervision by the peeps in this house.  We get a big F for bad backyard supervision.

And, after a little stretching, we're hoping that she's just sprained her leg.  :(

So, Finn's suped up on drugs, eating some pumpkin and resting with Momma for the day.  I realized how much I loved my little girl.  Hope she's feeling better soon.

  1. Oh Finn...we are so sorry!!! Sure hope you are feeling much better after you get some rest!!! Hopefully the pumpkin will usually does. And resting with your Momma will be good too! xoxo Chloe and LadyBug

  2. Oh Finn what have you been up to? Our peeps worry so much about what we eat and no wonder - a few weeks back I grabbed and swallowed a whole raw chicken wing and frightened my peeps so much:-( Luckily it was OK but there were many worrying days. Hope you are feeling much better soon and tell your Mom not to beat herself up about it - we K9s would need watching 24/7 to stop us doing all the things we shouldn't. Paws crossed everything is well again soon - love from Magic xx

  3. Oh Finn.... so sorry that you got a tree in you and that your leg hurts. Hope all is better soon. We are sending you lots and lots of purrrs. We sure don't want anything to be wrong with you.... Get Better Now!!!

    pawhugs, Max, Bugsy, and Knuckles

  4. Oh noes. Poor Finn. Her eyes are still alert and bright so we're sure with the meds and extra loving from Momma, she'll be back to her usual self in no time.
And stay clear of the wood chips when you're out in the yard next time, Finn!

  5. What??????? Wood Chips are not food??????? I thought they are!!?? Mum says I eat anything organic and that sometimes means bark chips from the mulches..... maybe not as much as you consumed though Finny!! Hope you are feeling better real soon!

  17. Oh no Finn! So very sorry you have been chowing on wood chips...not good. Sounds like an awful visit but I am glad you are on the mend now. Take care and pick doggie bones for chomping on, leave the wood for the ground.

  18. OH feel better!!! wood chips don't even taste gotta get some of those bacon treats she WILL NOT buy for me!!!

    1. hey Finn,

OUCH!! Wood?! Dude - of all the things to eat. Yikes! I once had an issue by eating cotton balls. They clogged me and one got stuck half-way out. My human had to pull on the end sticking out to get it out of me. BOL!!! She survived (but did NOT appreciate it), but I let out a huge WOOF when it was pulled out. It hurt! So, I hope the wood chips have softened and don't hurt passing through.

Be careful what you eat, because it does eventually have to come out, one way or the other. Good luck, and sorry to hear of your misadventure. Hope you heal nicely and feel better soon. And hope your leg gets better.

  19. Oh Finn! Get well soon! Don't eat wood chips! Potato chips are much better!

  20. Oh no Finn. That happened to a friend of mine. Eat your pumpkin and get better. I agree Potato chips are much better to eat.

  21. Oh no bad girl Finn! No eating wood chips!
    Hope you get better soon.

  22. Oh Finn get well soon!
Our paws are crossed that you are soon feeling all better. No more eating wood chippies. Enjoy relaxing with your Mom.

  23. Oh no~ Poor baby, so sorry I did not see this soon enough! Hope you are feeling better now. Be a good girl alright! :)

  24. Aaaw Finn - what a you like??!! Poor thing, we hope you are getting lots of pampering an extra treats, totally sympathise on the wood chips, we like to hoover anything up that's lying around too. Get well soon, Dex an Lou xxx

  25. Duncan is a wood chip junkie. He just can't get enough of them. I did some research and use a bee pollen powder they give horses to stop them from eating bark. It seemed to work. I don't use it anymore, though, because I think we finally broke that nasty habit. You might want to look into it.

In the meantime, poor Finn and poor YOU! I know the stress of those trips to the emergency room. I'm just happy it was something minor. WHEW!

And don't be too hard o yourself. You didn't let this happen. You can't be there every second of the day, as much as you'd like to try. Even if you were they'd find a way to sneak something.

You're good for Finn. She loves you and all is well in the universe. I promise.

    1. Thank you for the tip! We will definitely look into that! Have a good day!

  26. Poor Finn!!! Being sick is awful. Glad mom and dad caught it in time! Enjoy your pumpkin and your rest.

    Doggy Kisses,

  27. Poor Finn! I hope she gets better soon. It's so hard on us Mommas when there is something wrong with our babies! We are lucky, our vet will see us day or night. Wood chips? I'll never be able to look at them the same! LOL!

  28. We are sorry you are feeling a little sickie Finn. We hope the snuggles from Momma makes you feel better. What flavor where them Wood Chips? Sniffs, The HoundDogs

  29. Buddy likes to eat wood too...Out Momma has to stick her hand down his throat to get it out! YUCK!!!
Hope your leg is much better!
    Licks and sniffs,
    Zack, Sassy and Buddy

  30. Oh Finn, be a good girl and dont eat anymore wood chips. Thank goodness your mum knows you so well and noticed you were under the weather. Food is much better than wood hehehe. I've got my paws crossed for a quick recovery for you.

  35. Finn, we're supposed to have fiber in our diet, but you went EXTREME! I ate horse poop yesterday. MMMMMMMM. And it's filled with hay which is fiber!!! I gotted into trouble from mom though. She said I had stinky breath...
