More of Seein' the Sites

Everyone has such positive responses to my NYC photos.  Since we're entering spring, and that's prime walking weather, that means you all get to see more photos!

So, there are days when I cannot escape that I work near the WTC.  Sometimes I wander around at lunch time, and I am reminded that this tragedy happened so close to where I work.  One day, I found my way into St. Paul's Chapel on Broadway, and it has a small exhibit inside of it of the memorials which were created for the rescuers that day.

I then wandered into the 9/11 Memorial Preview Center.  The preview center is small, just one room on a crowded street where you can buy some books and things and purchase tickets to the memorial  I saw this photo and was just struck by it.

On to something lighter!  Pretty gardens near the base of...

...the Brooklyn Bridge!

I have no idea what those folks are looking at!

And now, I know this is a little old, but back on last Friday at 7:30am, I received a call from my Momma.  "Don't forget to look outside at 10:30 this morning to see the Space Shuttle go by."

Thanks Mom!

That's it for now!  Maybe some more sites next month!

  1. I don't know how we missed that...didn't realize that you worked in the city!! 9/11 is a day none of us will ever forget. Waving at you from Upstate!!! Have a great weekend Finn!

  9. Wow, that first picture is amazing. It took me a minute to realize that guy was not real, but in the photograph. Great shots!

    Your pal, Pip

  10. So much to see and do in the big city = great pics. Mom says she is hoping to get Dad to go to NYC this summer.

Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning

  11. I just missed seeing the Enterprise leaving Dulles. It flew over my house, and I was outside but under trees, but didn't know to look for it! Good thing I saw the Discovery when it came to town!

  12. Pawsome pics - thanks for sharing NYC with us :)

  13. GruffHello Finn - Mummy2Legs gets all of an overcome with pictures, she says they just capture that one unique moment in time/space...(I won't go on but you get the jist) - alas, I have to say it is great to see some of these places from an every-day perspective, rather than in a magazine professionally photographed (not that yours aren't!!) - my point being that some of your pictures, too, seem to just capture that one moment - unstaged and simply so special showing things just as they are and should be - real, here and now! Brilliant, Barnie (mainly being spotted being perhaps a tad over philosophical this evening..ha ha, hope you get my point though x) x x

  14. Thanks for sharing, it was shocking to see live on TV 9/11 so it must have been horrendous to have been there.
Would of loved to have seen the space shuttle flying over, great photo to get.

  15. Oh we did not realize your Mom works in the city. How close is your office to 1285 Avenue of the Americas?
    Sweet William The Scot

  16. Oh very cool that you saw the space shuttle! Thanks for sharing your pictures.

  17. Finn....
Varied emotions ran through me as I looked at your owner's 9-11 pictures.... Which is not a bad thing. I liked the tattooed man. I lived thousands of miles away from New York City on Tuesday, September 11th, 2001, yet I'll never forget. :-(
Love, Raelyn.... And Rose, my BEAUTIFULLY UNIQUE "Mystery Dog"!!

  18. Thanks for sharing those pictures!
    Kisses and hugs

  19. Terrific photos! That was one wild tattoo on that guy's back. Quite the memory 'inked' if you will :) Great capture of the Shuttle!

    Waggin at ya,
