The Babble Ball

A couple of weeks ago, I bought the Babble Ball.

This picture was taken after Finn had her paws on it for like 5 minutes.

Piece of crap.  We even had it in a sock for some added protection.  Don't get me wrong, Finn loved it, but it's definitely not appropriate for dogs who actually, you know, want to play with it.  We did superglue it back together, but now I am wondering how we will ever get it open if we want to change the batteries.

And FYI, this ball was the "large" size.  You see my car key there for comparison.  Stay away fellow doggie toy shoppers, stay away.

Now, I want to thank everyone who responded to my post yesterday!  We have donations from the folks at CANIDAE and Max because of it!  Thank you!

  1. Thanks fur the Paws Up about this SHODDY (that's a pun Paws Up/Shoddy) toy. I will avoid it fur sure.

OH what GRRREAT News.. TWO donations is super!!!

NOW... about your OPENING/Closing/Pawrade of Athletes... let's see IF I can get this right.. the Opening Ceremony would be the Pawrade of Athletes and the Closing Ceremony would be a RE-Post of the Parade of Athletes... I think that is BRILLIANT... DOUBLE USE... and everybuddy will be up there TWICE and be RECOGNIZED as SECOND Time. Just BRILLIANT... IF I am getting it right. I can be kinda "THICK HEADED" at times. If that is Not what you had in mind... please don't give up on me... just try to explain it to me again. OK???

  3. That's not good. And definitely not safe. Imagine if the dog played with the toy without supervision or the sock.....with all the little parts. Did you write to the manufacturer?

  4. I bet Shiver would love one of those! He's obsessed with balls.
Too bad it wasn't made with better quality.

Congrats on the donations, wonderful news!

  5. hey Finn,

Yay for the donations! Paws crossed that more come in! :->

Great job on the toy! Five minute max, impressive! ;-> Of course, I know we would like our toys to last MUCH longer, especially the fun ones, but at least, thanks to you, we now know to stay away from that one. Thanks! Personally, I could not play with it because it is the same size of a rubber ball I once swallowed and I really suffered from that, from both ends (if you know what I mean!).

  8. Well I too am tired of these manufacturing problems! I have/had rather many balls disintergrate, squeaky toys shred open/squeak a tumbling out etc and I consider myself a gentle 4Leg, definitely not a shredder, too taxing for me - and still, manufacturing problems! - thanks for the info - great news about your donations going well x

  10. Hmmm We have that toy and it has lasted months. Now the thing is Bob doesnt play with it much and he is our strongest chewer. Norbert does play with it but mostly rolls it rather then chews. Weasley loves it and the other pugs are scared I do think play style might be a factor but Im sorry it did not work out

  11. Oh that is sad - we LOVE our babble balls - but we only roll them around - are you sure that is the big one.....our big one is the size of a tennis ball and is smooth plastic - our little one is like that one and has ridges.

  14. Was it really named the babble ball? We don't have high grade dog toys here. It would be a rare case for me to find Kongs or even reliable squeakums to test Ginger and Peanuts teeth on.

    Well,have a happy weekend.

  15. Uh oh- looks like the large ball might be Betty's size, and she is not large. And I believe she would destroy pretty quickly too. I passed an award on to you Finn!
