An Ouchie

I had an ouchie this weekend.  When Momma and Pops came home form work on Friday, they (Momma) noticed I wasn't putting my full weight on one of my paws!  I was kinda limping around and stuff.  So, they had to take me to the V-E-T!

Here we are.  I look good, right??  There was another doggie there that wasn't put any weight on one of  his paws either.  We found out he tore his ACL when he tried to jump off the bed!  Ouch!

Turns out I have some allergies, and I had been licking and licking and licking a rash in between my paw pads and caused a little irritation.  So all weekend long I had to lay down and RELAX.  It was so darn hard!

I have some pre-posted posts (you know what I mean) for this week, but know I am laying low, keeping my paws clean and being served like the princess I am!  Have a good week folks!

  1. Oh dear, we hope you feel better soon. Our Norbert had a similar issue once. He scraped his paw pad at a concrete dog park and licked and licked it until he had a big ouchie and was limping

  27. Finn! Get well soon! Do they know if it's a food allergy or what kind of allergy it is. I hope whatever kind of allergy it is -- that they find a way to get rid of whatever is making you lick your paw. Get well soon! I know laying around the house doing nothing is hard work! Humans just don't seem to realize how hard that is!

  45. Hey Finny. Are you all better now? I caught Buchi licking his little boy area a little too much and we had him use the cone of shame. Good that the vetty didn't have you wear one.

By the way, I was hoping you could do me a favor and help me reach out to your bloggie friends for the giveaway I have posted in mydogslove.me. This will be very much appreciated.

  46. It's definitely that time of year! Wilson licks and chews his front legs a lot, it always starts around the end of July into August, and goes away after a good frost. Fortunately he has broken the skin. It went away while we were in Myrtle Beach last week so I know it's something local.

Hope Finn is feeling better asap!

  47. We hope you're starting to feel better sweet Finn!

I had the same thing happen to me when we were in Florida a while back. I got a bacterial infection and had to take yucky pills and even wear a sock! Hey a sock is better than the cone of shame any day!!

    Lily Belle

  49. Just catching up on my blog reading and am sorry to hear about your ACL and your itchy paws - here's some instructions for Mom and Dad to help you with that issue Finn ... first - have them cut away as much of the fur between the pads of your paws as possible with some blunt-end scissors - this will cut down on the moisture that gets stuck in there - don't worry Finn - it doesn't hurt ... next we need to kill that bacteria and/or yeast that has a nice little warm home there - plus if your little paws smell sweet - that's a sure sign something is going on between those cute little pads ... the simplest thing to do is to put Gold Bond Medicated Powder between the pads several times per day - this will keep them dry ... here are two topical sprays which can be ordered on line - Vet's Best Natural Health HOT SPOT SPRAY which is tea tree oil and aloe this will take longer to heal the feet - the other is PET'S BEST HEALING AND PROTECTION SPRAY which is an antimicrobial/antiseptic spray - this works like a charm - go to www.vetsbest.com for the tea tree spray and go to www.qbased.com for the Healing spray.

    Keep me posted - Katie
