...or these half-lip shots. I refer to this look as the "Elvis look" and I then I start to sing "I'm All Shook Up." Poor dog is probably very confused.
|my personal favorite so far!|
Is the command "smile" trainable? I've been trying to say the word and move the lips up and reinforce with the treats, but I am wondering if this is a worth-while cause?
Penny has an Elvis look, too. She gets her tooth caught up on her lip and looks very funny. Sort of smiling.
I guess if you use a clicker you could just try to catch the moment when Finn has the look you like.
Do you do clicker training?
I haven't tried clicker training. I usually jump up and down and make a big deal about getting the desired result - the clicker does seem a lot quicker though. Thanks for the tip!ReplyDelete
Hmm, I don't know about smile training, but he does look very cute!ReplyDelete
I used to call that half-sneer lip my dogs' Harrison Ford imitation! Must be a golden thing! Finn has a gorgeous smile. For toothpaste I usually used Petrodex chicken flavor, but there are herbal or natural ones too. Start out with a small amount, and if the long handled brush is too awkward at first, try the finger brush in the package till she's used to it.ReplyDelete
As a pup, get her used to your hands checking her mouth, ears, paws, etc.
She'll be so much more accepting when you have to clean, or trim nails, or examine.
AND, if you can teach her to smile on command, please post a video! That would be awesome!
Oh Finn, we love your Elvis - soooo cute!ReplyDelete
Hello Finn and humans! Thank you so much for kind comment on our guestbook. :)ReplyDelete
We love your 'i am so happy' photos..... and that Elvis look makes us smile!

Finn - Okay, you gotta get control of this training thing. Don't go doing everything she wants or you'll never get your human trained the right way. Trust us on this :)ReplyDelete
